Voice Dial (speech recognition app) App Reviews

At first I was glad about this voice tag program. However, after several days and many attempts at putting voice tags [multiple times as suggested] for just SEVEN phone numbers, the recognition is no better than random access. It has not gotten anything correct either at home, in the office or in the car for the last three days. Not worth the $2.00 charged. This is my first review of any app or product and was only motivated by my disappointment. I have no idea why others have posted good results as I have done everything suggested in the manual that is with the program, several times, with no improvement of the success rate.

I love the idea of the app, and it is very well made, but it does not work. Every time I say a contact, almost all of them, it claims that I said a different one, the same one. Apparently it only wants to call that one contact. It has promise, but it needs a lot of work. I sure am glad that I bought it on sale, though, because it is not worth very much. Improve! Improve! Improve!

Ive trained the software as directed, but unfortunately it just doesnt work correctly about 90% of the time. Im moving on to some of the other products that are out there on the App Store.

I had high hopes for this software and bought it when it was expensive. I dumped it last week for Say Who (thats the actual name of the free app) which performs flawlessly. Voice Dial was ponderous. You had to record each name and the software never really recognized it properly. Maybe 40% of the time. Say Who does it 95% of the time and there is no prep. It just reads your phonebook as is.

I bought this app when it was $14. It was tedious to put in the voice samples even for just a handful of names. The accuracy rarely hit. It was a waste of effort to even use it in the car. I deleted the app several weeks back in exchange for a free voice app that had better results.

I had precious few successes with this program. Ive had much better success with "Say Who".

This is the best voice dial app out there on the store right now hands down. Update: There are better programs out there for the money, but it is still decent. Also I should note that this is the only one that I know that does not need to connect to the Internet to work.

I carefully trained about 10 key contacts, with three samples each, following the guidelines in the manual. It gets less than 1 in 8 right. I was careful not to use sound-alike names, and to use multi-syllable names, to make it easy on the software. I have a pretty standard American media accent (although I suspect this should not matter anyway). At this stage in its development it is completely useless to me. Since I had to pay for it to try it, I certainly hope they get it right eventually.

I had Voicedial for Treo, I had hoped it would be better for IPhone. Burst my bubble quickly. I had hoped they had worked out the kinks for IPhone. NOT!

I paid top dollar for this program when it first came out. It does not work well actually bad. I am happy with another available FREE app in the APP store.

Very well done. The current version is easy to use and very reliable.

Application is completely unreliable. You can never know when it will get your input right, which it doesnt a huge percent of the time. For example, I can say something like "home" and it will call "Jason Keeth". Any time saved by voice dialing is wasted by hassling with this application to get it to pick the right name. Its a good idea, but the creators of this app need to put some serious work into their speech recognition algorithm. I want my money back.

Absolutely useless. I had a Motorola Q that had a great voice dial feature and this comes nowhere near.

I was cheated! All the App does is crash! It doesnt work at all. I want my money back!

Im going to start with a serious bug in this program, that could literally cause you to end up repeatedly dialing a persons phone number indeffinatley, and every time they hang up you would literally call them right back!!! The problem is that when you finish a call, the phone exits back into the VoiceDial applicaiton. The application will prompt you for your voice automatically when it reloads. IF YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL, THE PROGRAM WILL STILL FIND A MATCH!!! This basially means it will always dial someone when you end a call, no matter what. If you were to call a friend, then set your phone down after you get off the call, and say, go into the other room. The VoiceDial app will prompt you for another voice, and it will hear nothing, but still find a match. It will call that person who will answer, hear no one and hang up... The VoiceDial app will be reactivated, will match that same person again, and call them back again. YOUR PHONE WILL CALL THAT PERSON INDEFFIANTLY UNTIL YOU MANUALLY CANCEL OUT OF THE VOICE DIAL APP!!! Because of this, the app can truely cause serous problems!! Also, Interestingly enough, the pictures shown in iTunes are from a different version of VoiceDial than you will get though iTunes. They show features here in the application preview that simply dont exist in the version you get when you click Buy App. They seem to assume people who go though iTunes & buy this app will somehow know this, even though no indication is given to this fact (the pictures, as it turns out, are from a version only available for hacked phones not available though iTunes). When I contacted them I also got asked 20 questions about who I bought it from, what my order reference nubmer was, etc. They again assume iTunes purchasers have thourougly researched them and somehow know they were selling an illigitimate version prior to being available though here. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY HAVE GOTTEN IN TO BY SELLING THOUGH ITUNES! THEY SEEM TO ASSUME ALL USERS ARE PEOPLE WHO HACK THEIR PHONES!!!

I tried sampling 3 times, in different noise environments, but it still NEVER gets any of teh entries correct when I speak them. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

It works with one word contacts.

THE IP4 ALREADY HAS A VOICE RECOGNITION/DIAL FEATURE BUILT IN. MORE USER FRIENDLY THAN THIS ONE. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I said "home" and it called "dad cell." that doesnt sound anything alike!!!! I need a refund.
